Tag Along

WHAT - TAG ALONG

In conjunction with SAMH, Jog Scotland have launched an exciting new initiative - Tag Along. Members are asked to write encouraging messages to new or would-be joggers on luggage tags. Your message might be about how jogging makes you feel, what you've gained from joining a Jog Scotland group, dispelling one of the common anxieties around starting with a new group, or just a simple message of encouragement. You would then share your message on social media with the hashtag #JSTagAlong, tagging Jog Scotland and SAMH.

WHY - ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO START JOGGING
One of the most powerful forces in persuading people to take up a more active lifestyle is word-of-mouth. Jog Scotland are asking members to help us spread the word, encouraging their friends and family to Tag Along and join a group. Get the message across that getting active with Jog Scotland is fun and achievable and can boost their physical and mental well being. Let's get Scotland active.

HOW - WRITING MESSAGES ON LUGGAGE TAGS

On The Run Cumbernauld have ordered 100 luggage tags, and we invite our members to join the initiative. Using question prompts from Jog Scotland and SAMH, members will fill out a luggage tag writing messages of encouragement on your tags. You will then be photographed with you tag to be shared on social media, along with the hashtag #JSTagAlong. Tag Jog Scotland, SAMH and the folk you think might be most likely to tag along in the future. If you are not comfortable being photographed, we would still encourage you to complete a tag. Once you have completed your tag, and been photographed with your message, you will tie it to a shoelace/piece of string. These messages will then be returned to Jog Scotland HQ and messages from all over the Scotland will be combined into one huge thread of encouragement.

WHEN - MONDAY 6th April 2020 at BRITISH LEGION CUMBERNAULD

At the end of each Jog Scotland 10-week block OTR aim to have a "week 11" during which we encourage all our ability groups to join together and interact with other members they might never speak to on a Monday. We aim to use the next week 11 (Mon 6th April 2020) as our Tag Along evening. Hopefully the weather will be better so it's a good opportunity for those who have ran with us before to return for the following new block, and to also encourage new members to join us. For those who cannot attend on Mon 6th Apr (school holidays), I should have the tags with me throughout the rest of this block and you can see me on a Monday if you wish to join in and complete one.

Sounds like a great idea and I look forward to seeing all your words of wisdom.
