Gavin Bain

2023 means that I will have been running (on and off) for 40 years. I started running in 1983 as a means of recovery following a serious motorcycle accident. For over a decade I regularly ran half-marathons all over Scotland. For various reasons (work and family) I have generally ran less and less as I got older. I retired in 2020 immediately before the pandemic and first ran with OTR Cumbernauld when it re-started in September of that year, working my way back to fitness through Int1, Int2, Adv1 and Adv2. I also joined Parkrun when it re-started in August 2021, where I now regularly run and volunteer.

In 2022 I ran my first half-marathons in 28 years at Alloa and Falkirk all thanks to the encouragement, friendship, and support which I have received from everyone at OTR that I have ran with over the last few years. I look forward to becoming a jog leader and I am very happy to run with any group at any stage because they have all let me run with them when I needed it.
