Groups & Levels

We cater for a wide range of runners, from beginners to more experienced runners. Our sessions are organised into groups so everyone can run at a level that feels comfortable and enjoyable.

Choosing the Right Group

When you register through the Stack App, you'll be asked to choose a group that matches your current ability.

Our groups are loosely based on Jog Scotland programmes, helping runners build confidence and progress at a steady pace.

If you're unsure, choose the option that feels closest — our Jog Leaders can help guide you once you've come along.

Our Groups

We organise our runners into a number of groups, helping everyone start at a comfortable level and progress over time.

  • Beginners – Designed for those new to running or getting back into it. Sessions include a mixture of running and walking, with the aim of building up to completing a 5K without stopping over a 10‑week block.
  • Intermediate – Our intermediate groups support runners as they build confidence, distance, and consistency.
  • Int 1 & Int 2 loosely follow structured progression, helping runners gradually improve over time.
  • Int 3 is a step up, with fewer stops and an aim to run 10K by week 10. This group acts as a bridge towards the advanced groups.
  • Advanced – Our advanced groups run continuously with minimal stops and are split by pace rather than distance. These groups are suited to runners who are comfortable covering longer distances.

Progression

Many runners move between groups over time as their confidence and fitness improve. There's no pressure — you can progress at your own pace and enjoy the journey.

Support from Jog Leaders

We have a team of qualified Jog Leaders who support all of our groups. They are there to guide you, make sure sessions run safely, and help you feel comfortable in your group.
